DMAIC

Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control-structured process improvement.

What Is DMAIC?

DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) is the core problem-solving and improvement framework of Lean Six Sigma. I use DMAIC to tackle quality and process issues in a data-driven way: Define the problem and project scope, Measure the current state and baseline, Analyze root causes, Improve with targeted solutions, and Control to sustain gains. It connects naturally with root cause analysis, 8D, and CAPA.

Each phase has clear deliverables and tools-project charters and CTQs in Define; SPC and process capability in Measure; fishbone, FMEA, and hypothesis tests in Analyze; piloting and validation in Improve; control plans and monitoring in Control.

Key Competencies

  • Project charter and VOC/CTQ translation
  • Process mapping and baseline measurement
  • Root cause analysis and statistical validation
  • Improvement implementation and pilot studies
  • Control plans and sustainment
