PPAP

Production Part Approval Process for qualifying parts and processes.

What Is PPAP?

PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) is a standardized way to demonstrate that parts and processes meet customer requirements before production. Common in automotive and other manufacturing supply chains, PPAP packages typically include design records, process flow, FMEA, control plans, Gage R&R, process capability studies, and sample parts. I use PPAP to support new launches, engineering changes, and supplier qualification within quality systems.

Submission levels (1–5) define how much evidence the customer requires. I prepare and review PPAP packages, ensure documentation is complete and consistent with AIAG guidelines (or customer-specific requirements), and coordinate with engineering and production to close gaps.

Key Competencies

  • PPAP submission level selection and package preparation
  • Design and process documentation alignment
  • MSA and capability evidence for PPAP
  • First article inspection and sample submission
  • PPAP review and customer communication
